Frequently Asked Questions

Visiting Bexland

Where are you? 56 Duke Rd, Doonan, in the Noosa Hinterland. Just 15 minutes from Noosa, 20 minutes from Sunshine Coast Airport and about 90 minutes from Brisbane.

Can we just drop in? No. Bexland is private and by appointment only, so when you book, the farm is yours. No crowds, no strangers, no shared groups.

What happens when we arrive? The property is gated. Please arrive right on your booking time (we've factored everything in). We'll usually be waiting at the gate to let you in, and if it's closed, just give us a call.

Can we bring our dog to an experience? Please leave dogs at home. Our animals (and our resident dog and cats) feel safest without visiting dogs on the farm.

The Highland Cow Experience 🐂

What is it? A private, guided hour in the paddock with the Moo Crew. You'll meet each cow properly, learn their stories, and brush and feed them. It's hands-on and real, not a quick photo stop.

How much is it? $350 for a private group of up to 5 people. A small online booking fee is added at checkout.

Can we see the rest of the farm too? Yes. Add the Full Farm upgrade (+45 minutes, +$100) to also meet the horses and chickens, hold a chicken and take a tour of the whole farm.

Can children come? Absolutely. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

What should we wear? Enclosed shoes are a must, and clothes you don't mind getting a bit of farm on. Highland cows are hairy, happy and occasionally muddy.

Can we touch all the cows? Most of them love a brush and a scratch. Moofy, our matriarch, does things on her own terms. She'll come to you, take a treat and maybe give you a lick, but she's not one for being touched. We always let the animals choose, and we'll guide you the whole way.

What if the weather's bad? If it's wet, we'll get in touch to move your experience to another day. The cows (and you) will enjoy it far more in the dry.

What's your cancellation policy? More than 7 days before your booking: full refund. 3 to 7 days before: 50% refund. Less than 3 days before, or no-show: no refund. If we ever need to cancel, you'll get a full refund.

Can we take photos? Of course, there's plenty of time for photos. If you'd like a professional shoot with the cows, we can recommend a photographer.

Do you do horse riding? We don't offer horse riding.

Can the cows come to our event? That's not something we offer. The cows are happiest at home, so we'd love you to come and meet them here.

Gift vouchers & keepsakes

Do you sell gift vouchers? Yes. Buy them online through Book Now. They can be bought from anywhere in the world, so they make a great gift for family visiting Noosa.

Can I add a plush Highland cow to my booking? Yes. Our Bexland plush Highland cow, with its Bexland ribbon, can be added when you book.

The Railway Retreat

What is it? A restored Melbourne passenger train carriage on the farm. It sleeps up to 5 across a queen room, a double room and a king single room, with two bathrooms and a large covered deck with BBQ and fire pit overlooking the paddocks.

How much is it? $295 per night for 2 guests, plus $100 per extra guest per night. We usually have a two-night minimum.

What are the check-in and check-out times? Check-in is from 2pm and check-out is by 10am. The property is gated, so give us a call when you arrive and we'll let you in. Parking is right next to the train.

Is there a kitchen? There's a kitchenette with hotplates and a microwave, so it's self-catering. There's no oven.

Is there WiFi? No, and that's a lovely excuse to switch off.

Is the carriage accessible? There are steps up into the carriage.

Can we bring our dog? Please ask us before you book, so we can make sure it suits our animals.

Can we meet the animals while we stay? You're welcome to say hello over the fence if they wander up. For hands-on time, add a Highland Cow Experience to your stay. Please don't go into the paddocks or feed the animals.

Can I bring my horse? Yes. Horse accommodation can be booked with your stay, including paddocks, stables and day yards.

What's your cancellation policy for stays? More than 7 days before check-in: full refund. 3 to 7 days before check-in: 50% refund. Less than 3 days before check-in, or no-show: no refund. If we ever need to cancel, you'll get a full refund. We recommend travel insurance.

Indoor Arena Hire

Who can hire the arena? Coaches, clinicians, educators and riders. It's a 60m × 20m fully covered arena with a competition-standard surface and lighting.

What do we need to bring? Your own hay, feed and buckets. Tank water is available, and hirers clean up after their own horses.

Shop

Where do you post to? Within Australia only, for now.

How much is postage and when will my order arrive? Orders are posted within 2 business days with tracking, and postage is free on orders over $120. Full details are on our Shipping & Returns page.

Can I return something? We don't offer change-of-mind refunds or exchanges. Faulty items are always looked after. See Shipping & Returns.
